Community Guidelines

SayCooee · Community Standards · Last updated: August 2026

SayCooee is built on a simple idea: stronger communities start with stronger connections.

Behind every Cooee is a real person. Please treat others with the same kindness, honesty and respect you'd like to receive.

Whether you're sharing something, offering a skill, looking for help, joining a Community Buy, discovering a Local Group or supporting an Australian business or producer, every positive interaction helps build a stronger community.

These Guidelines exist to help keep SayCooee safe, welcoming and worth belonging to.

1 Our Community Values

We ask everyone using SayCooee to:

2 Staying Safe

Connecting with new people requires common sense and good judgement. When appropriate:

You are always free to say no to a private arrangement. If something doesn't feel right, don't proceed and report serious concerns to SayCooee.

3 Putting a Cooee Out

A Cooee is a way to let your community know what you're looking for, what you can offer or what you think people might want to do together. When putting a Cooee out:

A Cooee is a call to the community. It doesn't guarantee that someone will answer or that an idea will go ahead.

4 Sharing, Skills & Swaps

Every community exchange is different. People may share knowledge, lend something, give something away, exchange skills or simply help because they can. There is no requirement that every interaction involves an equal swap. If you do agree to an exchange:

For private member-to-member arrangements, SayCooee helps make the connection. The people involved decide what happens next.

5 Community Buys

Community Buys work because people bring their purchasing demand together. If you're participating in a Community Buy:

There may also be an earlier stage where people simply put their hand up to show there is community demand. Where SayCooee says an expression of interest is non-binding, you haven't committed to purchasing simply by putting your hand up. Once a Community Buy is confirmed, commitments matter.

Customers are expected to honour confirmed orders and Suppliers are expected to fulfil confirmed Community Buys. The specific rules are contained in the SayCooee Community Buy Terms.

6 Local Groups

SayCooee helps make Local Groups easier for communities to discover. Some Groups may operate through SayCooee. Others may already exist on Facebook, WhatsApp, another platform or independently offline. Group organisers and members should:

A Group being listed on SayCooee does not mean SayCooee owns, operates or manages that Group. Independent Group organisers remain responsible for their own Groups, members, communications, activities and events.

7 Group Organisers

If you add or manage a Group through SayCooee, we ask that you:

Group organisers may share SayCooee opportunities and Community Buys with their communities. Any separate commercial partnership, incentive, sponsorship or other arrangement with SayCooee will be subject to the terms agreed for that programme.

8 Businesses, Producers & Suppliers

Businesses, makers, growers, producers and Suppliers are an important part of the SayCooee community. If you're participating as a business or Supplier:

A confirmed Community Buy is a commitment. Suppliers participating in Community Buys must also comply with the SayCooee Supplier Agreement.

9 Be Honest About Who You Are

Don't:

Trust is important to SayCooee. Deliberate deception may result in content being removed or an account being restricted or suspended.

10 Respect Other People's Privacy

Don't publish or share another person's private information without permission. This includes information such as:

Be thoughtful about your own privacy too. You don't need to publicly share personal contact information simply to put a Cooee out.

11 Keep SayCooee Free From Spam

SayCooee is about genuine community connection, not filling people's feeds with unsolicited advertising. Don't use SayCooee for:

Businesses are welcome on SayCooee through the appropriate business, Supplier, advertising and Community Buy opportunities.

13 Respectful Behaviour

SayCooee does not tolerate:

Disagreement is okay. Abuse isn't.

14 How SayCooee Works

SayCooee plays different roles depending on what you're doing. For Cooees, sharing, skills and swaps, SayCooee helps people make the connection. The people involved decide what happens next.

For Local Groups, SayCooee helps people discover and connect with communities. Independently operated Groups remain the responsibility of their organisers.

For Community Buys, SayCooee may bring community demand together, connect communities with Suppliers, collect orders and payments, communicate with participants and coordinate the information needed to facilitate the Community Buy.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, SayCooee does not guarantee the identity, qualifications, licences, suitability or background of members, businesses, Suppliers or Group organisers. Use common sense, ask questions and make decisions you're comfortable with.

15 If Something Doesn't Feel Right

If you see content or behaviour that you believe is:

please report it to SayCooee. Where reasonably appropriate, SayCooee may:

Serious safety concerns or suspected criminal activity should also be reported to the appropriate authorities.

16 Our Community

These Guidelines aren't here to make community complicated. They're here to protect what makes it work.

Together, we're building something worth belonging to. A place where communities connect, people share what they have and know, Local Groups are easier to find, Australian businesses and producers can reach organised community demand, and helping one another becomes easier.

Thank you for being part of it.
