Community Standards

Community Guidelines

SayCooee is built on a simple idea: stronger communities start with stronger connections. Behind every Cooee is a real person, please treat others with the same kindness, honesty and respect you'd like to receive.

Whether you're sharing a skill, looking for help, joining a Group Buy, supporting a local business or meeting people with similar interests, every Cooee helps bring neighbours closer together.

These guidelines exist to make sure SayCooee stays safe, welcoming and worth belonging to for everyone.

💛 Our Community Values

🤝 Be Kind

Treat every member with courtesy and respect. Everyone joins SayCooee for different reasons, and a little kindness goes a long way.

✅ Be Honest

Be truthful about who you are, what you're offering and what you're looking for. Accurate information helps build trust.

📅 Keep Your Word

If you've agreed to meet someone, participate in a Group Buy or help another member, please honour your commitment wherever possible. If your plans change, let the other person know as soon as you can.

⏱️ Respect People's Time

Respond when you can and communicate clearly. If you've changed your mind, simply let the other person know.

🏘️ Support Your Community

SayCooee exists to strengthen local communities. Whether you're helping a neighbour, supporting a local producer or joining a community initiative, every positive interaction helps build something bigger.

🛡️ Staying Safe

While many wonderful friendships and connections begin online, it's important to use common sense whenever connecting with someone for the first time.

  • Meet in a public place whenever practical.
  • Let someone know where you're going.
  • Trust your instincts. If something doesn't feel right, don't continue.
  • Take extra care whenever children are involved.
  • Inspect goods before accepting them.
  • Agree on expectations before meeting, collecting or providing a service.
  • Never feel pressured into an arrangement.

Remember, you're always free to say no.

🔄 How to Be a Great Member

🤝 Swaps

Every swap is different. Members decide together what feels fair: whether you're swapping home-cooked meals for babysitting, gardening for tutoring or simply lending a ladder.

Communicate openly and agree on the details before proceeding.

🛒 Community Buys

Community Buys work because neighbours come together. Please:

  • Only join if you genuinely intend to participate.
  • Respect payment and collection deadlines.
  • Communicate promptly if your circumstances change.
  • Be patient and respectful with suppliers and organisers.

👥 Local Groups

Local Groups should be welcoming, inclusive and respectful. Please:

  • Welcome new members.
  • Respect different opinions.
  • Keep discussions relevant.
  • Support group organisers and volunteers.

🏪 Businesses & Suppliers

Businesses, producers and suppliers are valued members of our community. Please provide accurate information, communicate honestly and deliver what you've promised.

🚩 Reporting Concerns

If you believe a member has breached these Guidelines, or you experience behaviour that makes you feel unsafe, please report it to SayCooee.

We're committed to maintaining a welcoming and respectful community.

ℹ️ How SayCooee Works

We introduce people. What happens next is up to you.

SayCooee introduces people. We don't negotiate, supervise or manage agreements between members. Members are responsible for making their own decisions, communicating clearly and determining what works best for everyone involved.

⚠️ A Friendly Reminder

SayCooee does not verify the identity, qualifications, licences, references or background of members, businesses or suppliers unless expressly stated.

Please use common sense, ask questions and make decisions you're comfortable with.

Together, we're building something worth belonging to.

Communities where neighbours know each other, local businesses thrive and helping one another becomes part of everyday life.

Thank you for being part of it.
